ABOUT

Founded in 2008 by brothers Fareed (trumpet) and Kynoebi Simpson-Hankins (flute and saxophone), the band has been developing non stop. The band keeps a large and constantly evolving repertoire. It began with the idea to find a way to combine both jazz and classical music. The band now plays a variety of musical styles inspired by jazz, r&b, hip hop, classical, funk, soul and pop. This allows the band to reach a broad audience and connect with many different types people. The music can be danced to, or simply enjoyed and appreciated.  At a live show, the band connects the power of the horns, rhythm and audience to create a party-like atmosphere.

Since its inception, Brothers.Ink has presented live shows in Philadelphia and beyond, at the West Oak Lane Jazz Festival, National Association of Negro Musicians, The Flying Horse Center, community centers, clubs, private parties and educational events.

The band is also a part of the 501(c)3 non-profit organization Developing Excellence.
